Between the beaches of Chalong and Kata on the mountain, whose height is 350 meters, there is a statue of the Great Buddha. Sculpture in height in 49 meters have started to erect in 2008 on donations which now go on construction of a temple in the basis of the Buddha. You can contribute to the construction of the island’s largest landmark by buying a marble plaque that will become part of the structure.
The mountain is one of the best viewing platforms on the island. From its peak, even the southern and eastern coasts are perfectly visible, and at sunset beautiful images of the Andaman Sea and beaches are obtained.
You can get to Big Buddha yourself by renting a car or motobike. At the road junction between Rawai and Phuket City, called the Chalong ring, you should turn onto the road leading to the airport. After half a kilometer at the traffic light turn left and follow the signs for about 7 kilometers to the statue. The entrance to the mountain is free. p>
The second option – to buy an excursion to the Buddha, which in addition to visits to most attractions include horseback adult elephants and elephant familiarity with the kids
