Phuket City – The Heart of Phuket

Phuket Town is the capital of Phuket. Crowds of tourists in the city just can not be found: all of them can be found on the beaches. The capital is the country’s business center: government offices, banks, office buildings and other elements of urban infrastructure are located in Phuket Town. Of course, the noisy metropolis is not the most popular holiday destination, but the city is still of interest to the tourist with some interesting sights.

All paths lead to Phuket

However, almost every tourist visits the capital. Why? Because almost all the transport links of the island pass through the city. For the most part, these are Sonthaew minibuses, less commonly, regular buses. Every local bus also stops here, and a few kilometers outside the city limits you can find long-distance buses.

Phuket Town – a city of business

In general, the city has all the conditions for a comfortable stay. It offers tourists all kinds of snack bars, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, shops, boutiques, markets, hotels and even travel agencies. However, Phuket Town is not the best place to relax in the traditional sense of the word. The city is more suitable for business negotiations than beach parties. Naturally, the prices here are much lower than in the beach area.

How to get to Phuket Town

There are several ways to get to the city:

  • By regular bus. The fare is 100 baht.
  • By minibus. The trip will cost 10 baht.
  • You can leave Phuket Airport using the services of numerous carriers. You don’t have to look for transport for a long time – representatives of local transport companies themselves meet tourists at the airport exits.

From the old bus station and from the minibus stop you can reach almost all the most popular beaches of the island. For example: Patong, Kata, Rawai, Chalong and others.
